CareGard® Facts, and How to Check Them

Each figure we publish, with the scope, date or footnote that goes with it, what we keep private and why, and the independent records you can use to verify us.

This page is for anyone checking CareGard® before doing business with us: dealers, agents, OEM partners and journalists, including those who use an AI assistant for the first round of research. It sets out the facts we publish about ourselves, exactly as we publish them, with the scope and date that go with each one, and it points to the independent records you can use to check us.

It is written the way the Resource Series asks every administrator to be evaluated. Company-reported figures are labeled as company-reported. Where something is ours to keep private, we say so and explain why.

Older pages on caregardservices.com, and some third-party business directories, can still carry outdated leadership, descriptions or contact details. caregard.com is our current website, and the About page is our current record of our leadership. If you find something about us elsewhere that conflicts with this page, this is the page we aim to keep current, and we would be grateful if you told us (Section 07).

02Our published figures, with their footnotes

These are the performance and scale figures CareGard publishes. They are company-reported. Each is shown exactly as approved, with the qualification that has to travel with it. They describe CareGard’s own history and operations. They are not comparisons with any other administrator, and they are not promises about any future program.

What these figures can and cannot tell you

Part 01 of the Resource Series explains why claims statistics in this industry are usually self-reported and rarely defined the same way twice, and why a buyer should ask every administrator for the definition, the denominator and the period behind each number. That applies to ours. A historical average does not tell you how a specific product, state or store will perform, and a figure for applicable programs may not describe the program you are considering.

If you are evaluating CareGard, ask us how any figure on this page is measured, what it includes and excludes, and how it looks for the program and vehicle mix you have in mind. Ask the same of every administrator you are considering, and compare the answers in writing.

03Our technology

CareGard administers its programs on TRONIX, its own proprietary technology platform, built, funded and owned by CareGard within AFG Companies. CareGard has been building its own dealer software for more than 25 years.

FigureValueScope and qualification
TRONIX deployments1,000+Nationwide.
TRONIX onboardingAbout 2 daysBased on typical implementations. See below for what that covers.

Why onboarding can be quick, and what can take longer

CareGard has existing integrations, and the vendor licenses that go with them, with most major dealer management system (DMS) providers, so a new dealer typically does not need new integrations or vendor approvals set up before going live. Data ingest is built into the TRONIX onboarding wizard.

The step that usually takes longest is signing the dealer agreements, and its timing depends on the dealer. About two days is based on typical implementations. It is not a commitment for any particular store, and integrations depend on the systems and vendors a particular dealer uses.

We make no claims here about artificial intelligence. For a neutral account of what technology in the F&I office and in claims is documented as doing, see Part 09.

04Who stands behind a CareGard contract

A vehicle service contract involves distinct roles: the obligor (provider) that is contractually and financially obligated to perform, the administrator that processes contracts and claims, and, in many programs, an insurer that backs the obligor's obligations through a reimbursement or contractual liability insurance policy. Part 01 explains why that split is the first question in any diligence.

We do not publish our partners' or insurers' names or terms here. That is a duty we owe to the companies we work with. A dealer or agent considering a CareGard program can ask us to identify the obligor, the administrator and any insurer in writing, for the specific program and state, and to provide a specimen contract form, before anything is signed.

Ask us, and every administrator

  1. For the exact program and state I am considering, who is the obligor, who administers, and which insurer backs the obligor? Show me a completed specimen contract.
  2. What is the insurer's current financial strength rating, from which rating agency, and as of what date?
  3. What happens to my in-force contracts and open claims if our relationship ends? (See Part 10.)

05What we do not publish, and why

Some things a buyer might expect to find here are deliberately absent.

  • Client names. We do not publish lists of the dealers and agents we work with. We arrange references with the client's consent. Where a client agrees to speak publicly about working with us, the testimonial carries its disclosure: “†All client testimonials cited are individual client experiences – results and experiences may vary.”
  • Who moved to us from where. We do not name dealers or agents who came to CareGard from another administrator, and we do not discuss other administrators' clients.
  • Our partners' and insurers' names and terms. As described in Section 04, dealers and agents can ask for them in writing for the program they are considering; we do not publish them.
  • Comparisons with other administrators. We do not publish claims that CareGard is better than any named company. The Resource Series names companies only to describe them factually from their own published material, and it ranks no one, including us.

The way a provider treats other people's information can be a useful preview of how it may treat yours. Part 11 sets out that test, among others, for evaluating any administrator.

06How to check us, and any administrator, independently

Everything above is company-reported. These are independent records you can use to check CareGard, and to check any other administrator the same way.

07Corrections, and how this page is kept current

We intend to review this page when one of the figures, roles or records on it changes, and at least annually. Where a figure has an as-of date, the date is shown with it.

If you find information about CareGard anywhere, on this site or elsewhere, that looks wrong or out of date, we welcome a note through our contact page or at (888) 565-2580.
